SIVB Past President, Dr. Dwight Tomes, participates in the monthly CAST Food Science Work Group to discuss current projects under development and to identify and frame topics for future CAST publications.   The 2021 accomplishments of CAST are highlighted in the following link: .  When you open this link, you’ll find a link to CAST’s just-released 2020 annual report and details on the strategic plan, spring board meeting, 2021 Borlaug CAST Communication Award announcement, and upcoming events.   There is also a list of publications that are scheduled for rollout throughout 2021 – 22.

Additionally, the CAST team welcomes and encourages feedback and suggestions on issues we should be pursuing. So feel free to contact me (Dwight Tomes) with any ideas you may have for a CAST publication and in particular send me names and topics that in which CAST might be interested.I would be pleased to bring them to the group for discussion at an upcoming work group meeting.

Also know that the CAST EVP/CEO, Kent Schescke, is always happy to schedule a Zoom meeting to discuss ways to deepen our partnership and engagement with CAST.

Thank you again for the opportunity to be SIVB’s voice to support CAST’s unique and effective way of communicating sound, unbiased information on food and science.
