Things to know before you log on!

You’ve heard the SIVB talking about transitioning this year’s event to a Virtual Pre-recorded meeting, but what does it mean? And how can you participate? This year’s SIVB Annual Meeting will be unprecedented as we will not see each other face-to-face. While this last article before the start of the annual meeting would normally remind you about purchasing tickets for special events at our host city, dressing for the weather in San Diego, or give you the address and location of onsite registration, this year we are using this opportunity to provide you with details on how the 2020 World Congress on In Vitro Biology Virtual Pre-recording event will proceed and how you can be involved.

How do I “get to” the World Congress?

This year’s program is being offered through a private website that will only be available to those registered for the meeting. In advance of the World Congress, all pre-registrants will be emailed with link to the special event website with an access key and login. The Access Key will allow you to view the website but will not allow you to see the presentations. Your personalized login will you allow to see all the presentations once they are released beginning on the morning of June 6.

How do I register?

Registration is available online through the morning of June 10. Those that register by the end of May will be provided with their event code and access key to access the World Congress EventScribe Website prior to the start of the meeting on June 6. Those that register between June 1 – 10 will be sent instructions with their registration confirmation on how to access the event website and set up their account to see the presentations and participate in the event.

What is being presented at the meeting?

The final program and list of posters is now available. All presentations for the 2020 Virtual Pre-recorded Meeting are being uploaded in advance of the meeting. Invited Speakers and Contributed Paper authors are uploading their PowerPoint presentations and recording audio to go along with them. Poster authors are uploading their posters and recorded descriptions. Because presentations are recorded in advance, you do not need to watch them at a specific date and time.  All presentations will be available to watch at any time that is convenient to you from June 6 to June 22, 2020 through the special meeting website. After June 22, presentations will be removed, but abstracts will remain available.

How can I participate during the meeting?

All presentations will have both Q&A and Discussion features available. Registrants will be able to post a question to a presenter on the home screen of their presentation, vote questions others posed to the top of the list, or use the Discussion tab to start a conversation on the presentation. Just remember that all discussions should abide by the SIVB’s Meeting Code of Conduct. We expect this functionality to enhance the presentations and allow for you to connect with your fellow attendees through the science being presented.
