Dr. Talaat Ahmed, Associate Professor of Plant and Molecular Genetics at Qartar University, received notification of grant funding for the following two projects. 

  • MARUBENI Qatar-Japan Research Collaboration (QJRC): Development and identification of bread wheat resilient germplasm ($150,000 for two years).
  • UREP25-052-1-006: A comparative screening of the efficacy of callus tissues and plant leaves extracts from Qatari desert plants against breast cancer cell. (QNRF, Qatar, $30,000 for one year).

Dr. Alphonse E. Sirica, Ph.D., M.S., AGAF, FAASLD, Professor of Pathology and Internal Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, is the primary organizer of a Keystone Symposium titled “Hepatobilliary Cancers: Pathobiology and Translational Advances.” The Symposium will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on March 21 – 24, 2021.
