FINAL SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM AVAILABLE ONLINE

Again this year the SIVB will be providing a mobile app for those attending the meeting which will offer attendees the opportunity to download the speaker presentations to take notes, network with other attendees, set your schedule, review abstracts, and more, all in the palm of your hand! Its a virtual bag of all the conference materials you may need! The app is available through both Android and iTunes. Those who have preregistered will be receiving an email before the meeting with details on how to log in and download the app before you arrive. If you are registering on site, you will be provided with directions on how to log in to access the content once you register. In the meantime, you can use your desktop or laptop to make your plans by visiting our Itinerary Planner.


ONSITE REGISTRATION

Remember, if you didn’t register in advance, registration will be available on site at SIVB’s Registration Desk found at the Regency Coat Room of the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch, 315 Chestnut St., St. Louis, Missouri beginning on Saturday, June 2 at 7:00 am. REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS, POST DOCS, AND RESEARCH TECHICIANS ATTENDING THE MEETING

Students, Post Docs and Research Technicians both pre-registered and those who are registering onsite: You will be required to present proof of your student, Post Doc or Research Technician status upon check in to receive the discounted rates. Proof of student status can be one (1) of the following: student ID, letter from your supervisor stating your current status, or current class schedule. Proof of Post Doctoral or Research Technician status would be a letter from your supervisor stating your current status as a post doc or research technician. If you do not bring this proof, you may be required to pay the regular registration rate to attend the meeting.

SPECIAL EVENTS AND TOURS ARE AVAILABLE

SIVB believes in that both work AND play are important parts of our annual meeting. To that end, the Local Organizing Committee has been working hard preparing a number of special events for your enjoyment while in St. Louis. While registration for a few events have closed, If you are still finalizing your plans, there are plenty of special events and workshops you can participate in as well.

If you are looking for an educational experience, then look no further than the Flow Cytometry Workshop. Starting at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 2, this special session entitled “Flow Cytometry for Genome Sizing, Editing, and Targeting” will focus on various topics for targeting and gene editing with plant specific applications. The cost is $30 for the full-day workshop. Registration is limited. Please see the registration desk when you arrive to see if there is space availability in the session.

 

If social activities are more your style, then don’t forget to purchase your tickets to join us as we visit Anhueser Busch Grant’s Farm on June 5. There are a few spots left for this special dinner including rides through Deer Park, animal meet-and-greets and your chance to meet the world famous Clydesdale horses! The price for this special evening event is $89 and includes round trip transportation, activities, and dinner. You can purchase your spot when you check in at the registration desk at the Regency Coat Room, but only while supplies last.

Are you staying late on Wednesday? While space for the Heart of Biotechnology Tour has been closed, there are a few spaces left on the R&D Innovation Tour of MilliporeSigma. Join us to visit where the world’s first targeted nucleases (ZFNs) were developed and manufactured for academic and commercial research starting in 2008.The site continues to function as an innovation hub for genome editing covering CRISPR technology, cell engineering services (Cell Design Studio), and genome editing R&D specializing in toxicology applications. The tour will start with a short 5-10 minute presentation, followed by a guided walk around the facility to see various R&D labs. The tour will offer multiple different expert scientists to guide you through the Center and give participants a choice of which area in which they are most interested. The cost of the tour is $35 and will include bus transportation, boxed lunch, and your tour. Tickets are still available at the registration desk while supplies last.

SIVB is holding our 18th silent auction fundraiser at the meeting to support the SIVB and its Student Initiatives. If you have something special that you’d like to donate to support the SIVB, just email [email protected] to let us know what you are bringing and its approximate value. Then, bring it with you to the SIVB Registration Desk in the Regency Coat Room when you arrive on Saturday to check in and we will include your generous contribution. The Auction runs from Saturday night through Tuesday at 10:30 am. Find items as diverse and interesting as our members ranging in value from only a few dollars to priceless! Everyone can participate, so plan to bid early and often.
