Don’t Forget the Student Opportunities Do you know what Good Teaching Is…?

During the meeting, there will be a number of symposia and workshops that will focus on student professional growth. We encourage all students to attend these sessions:

  • Student Symposium: Interview
  • Student Luncheon: Networking Platform
  • Student and Post Doctoral Oral Presentation Competitions for both Plant Biotechnology and In Vitro Animal Cell Sciences
  • Student Non-Competitive Oral Presentation Session
  • Student Poster Competition
On Saturday, May 30, from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm, the Education Committee is holding an afternoon hands-on workshop entitled, Good Teaching Is…? Workshop, which delves into what good teaching is from the perspective of both the instructor and the learner.  Engage in a variety of theme sessions including: lesson planning basics, feedback and assessment strategies, learning styles, group learning, and teaching perspectives.  Vivian Dayeh is the current chair for the SIVB Education Committee. Preregistration is required for this workshop as all attendees will be requested to complete an online survey in advance of the session. Registration is limited.

Get the 2015 In Vitro Biology Meeting AppThe 2015 In Vitro Biology Meeting is offering a mobile app to attendees which will provide you with downloads of the speakers presentations, program and other information you may need. The app will be available through both Android and iTunes. Those who have preregistered will be receiving an email before the meeting with details on how to log in and download the app before you arrive. Prefer your desktop? Check out for all the information you need for the meeting! Remember, if you didn’t register in advance, On Site Registration will be available beginning on Saturday, May 30 at 7:00 am at the Registration Booth of the Hilton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort!

Tuesday Evening at the Sonora Desert Museum Wednesday Afternoon at Biosphere 2
A fun and casual evening is being held on Tuesday, June 2 from 5:45 – 9:00 pm. Turn your idea of a museum inside out and join us for a delightful desert evening! The 98-acre Desert Museum is a fusion experience: zoo, botanical garden, art gallery, natural history museum, and aquarium. Join us on Wednesday, June 3 from 1:15 pm – 4:30 pm for a custom “Behind the Scenes” tour of this unique facility located in the serene foothills of the Catalina Mountains.
