Fellow SIVB Members,
I cannot explain the excitement I feel for the upcoming SIVB Annual Meeting in Raleigh. The Program has come together beautifully. It certainly will not be difficult finding sessions to your liking. Much more difficult might be having to decide when to take a little time away from the meeting to enjoy your friends or to see the sites around Raleigh. I am extremely proud of all the hard work put forth by the Program Committee. This will be a great experience for all of us. I look forward to your comments both at the meeting and afterwards. I will not be difficult to find as I plan to attend as many of the sessions and activities that I can.
The financial health of the society continues to grow. I could list all the members that have contributed to this, but they know who they are. I will try to acknowledge their contributions throughout my term. If you know of individuals who have made your association with SIVB better please mention it to your section officers or me. We have many awards that should go to all the deserving members who make this Society what it is.
I have said it before and you will hear it from me as long as I have a voice in this Society, “the lifeblood of SIVB is its Membership”. You make everything happen. Your dues, your talents, and your involvement keep us moving forward. The one negative statistic about SIVB is the declining number of members. This is not unique to societies in these current, financially difficult times. But only we, the members of SIVB, can bring those numbers back by bringing in new members or bringing back members who have drifted away. All the officers, committee heads, and office staff want to know what SIVB means to you, what you need in a professional society, and what you think we can do to make SIVB better.
I look forward to seeing you in Raleigh in June.
SIVB Member and President
