|2017 Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Phillips received a B.A. degree in Philosophy (1975) and a Ph.D. degree in Crop Science (1981) with a major in plant breeding and genetics and a minor in plant physiology, both degrees awarded from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Phillips’ research has focused on the development and application of cell genetics and biotechnology to improve crop plants.
His extramural research support ($6,657,221) has been awarded by various competitive grants panels and private companies. He has authored or co-authored 49 refereed journal articles, 30 invited chapters, co-edited a lab manual on plant tissue culture methods, and has over 90 other miscellaneous publications and abstracts. He has been an ad-hoc reviewer for 15 different journals and for 23 panels or divisions of 8 different federal funding agencies……..>

Dr. Miho Kusuda Furue was given the SIVB IVACS Fellow Award at the 2017 annual meeting in Raleigh, NC. Dr. Furue received her DDS degree from the Hiroshima University School of Dentistry in 1986, she received her Ph.D from the same institution in 1990, and she joined the SIVB in 1994..….>

During the Plant Biotechnology Section meeting at the 2017 Society for In Vitro Biology (SIVB) conference Dr. Sukhpreet Sandhu was acknowledged for receiving the SIVB Young Scientist Award as a result of her contributions to the field of in vitro biology and SIVB.
Dr. Sandhu received her B.S. in Plant Science from Panjub University (Chandigarh, India) in 1999. She continued her education receiving her M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Punjab Agricultural University (Ludhiana, India) in 2002….>
