President’s Report

Dear SIVB Members, By the time you receive this issue of the In Vitro Report, your Board of Directors (BOD) will have completed their Fall Board Meeting at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Resort. This meeting is extremely important as it is the only time the Board meets face-to-face, with the exception of the annual meeting. It is normally held at the site of the upcoming meeting, so that the Board can see that the space will indeed fulfill our needs. 2008 World Congress Update

The 2008 World Congress is fast approaching. This year, the World Congress will be held in the “Old Pueblo,” Tucson, Arizona, from June 14 – 18 at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort. In Memory of….

IN MEMORIAM Leonard J. Schiff, PhD 1938-2007 The Society For In Vitro Biology (SIVB) recognizes the life and achievements of Dr. Leonard J. Schiff who passed away on September 13, 2007 at his home in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Schiff was born and raised in Weatherford, Oklahoma and was a life-long and passionate fan of the Oklahoma Sooners football team. His undergraduate education began in biology and Medical Technology at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. After serving in the U.S. Army and assignments at the Fitzsimons General Hospital Army Medical Research & Nutrition Laboratory, he earned his Master’s degree in Microbiology...

The Fellow Award recognizes current members of the SIVB who have been active members for at least 10 years. A Fellow has made outstanding contributions in their area of specialization or discipline to include research, teaching, and administration in public government, academic or private industry activities.
