The deadline for submission has
been moved to March 15, 2010.

Students wishing to obtain funding in support of the 2010 In Vitro Biology Meeting/12th IAPB Congress in St. Louis should apply for an SIVB Student Registration Fellowship. Fellowship recipients will receive free early bird registration to attend the Congress and free membership in the Society for In Vitro Biology in 2011.  Winners will be chosen based on quality of their submitted abstract.

Procedure for Submission and Selection

Application for these Fellowships must include the following:

  1. Completed application form
  2. Abstract to be submitted to the meeting. Directions for
    formatting your abstract are below.
  3. Xerox copy of student’s current student ID card.
  4. Letter from student’s primary thesis or research advisor
    stating the following:

    a.Verification of current status as a student in the
       advisor’s lab as of June 6, 2010.

    b. Anticipated graduation date of student applicant.

    c. Brief description of level of effort expended by student
        applicant on the project that is described in the submitted
        abstract.

All materials must be submitted to the SIVB Business Office at sivb@sivb.org no later than March 15, 2010. Email submissions are preferred.

If necessary, items can be mailed to the address below. Please note they must be received in the SIVB Office by March 15, 2010 to be considered for a fellowship award.

Please note:

  • Incomplete submissions may not be considered for award.
  • Postdocs are not eligible for these awards.
  • Fellowships are only for the $400 early bird registration fee.
  • Awards are limited and thus, the reviewing committee urges early application by students for these funds.

Student Awards Committee will review all applications and make final decisions on SIVB Student Registration Fellowships.

Formatting of your abstract:

When saving your file, please save it in doc or rtf format.  Docx files will not be acceptable.

The following must be included in your file:


1. Section Type: Animal or Plant

2.  Keywords: Please provide 3 keywords that relate to your abstract

3. Abstract Heading: Please include the following information:

      a. Title of your abstract. 

      b. Names of all authors

      c. Author’s affiliations

      d. Applicant's email address

    4. Abstract Body:  The body of the abstract should be limited to 1,800 characters, which includes spaces.  Do not include references in the body of your abstract.

Name the abstract file: "Fellowship Abstract –‘Your full name’.doc" When saving your file, please save it in doc or rtf format.  Do not place the text of your file into the body of the email, please send it as an attached doc or rtf file only.  Docx files will not be acceptable.

Remember to attach the following to your email:

  1. Completed application form
  2. Formatted abstract named “Fellowship Abstract – “Your Full Name’.doc”
  3. Xerox copy of student’s current student ID card.
