Publications of the Society for In Vitro
Biology
IN VITRO CELLULAR & DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY
This premier society-based international journal is devoted
to the latest research, techniques, and developments related to
the in vitro cultivation of cells, tissue, organs, or tumors from
plants and animals, including humans. In Vitro presents original
research devoted to the advancement and dissemination of basic
and applied knowledge and is published as two different, specifically
focused journals, In Vitro Cellular and Developmental Biology
- Animal and In Vitro Cellular and Developmental Biology
- Plant. Together the combined titles represent an essential
resource for researchers involved in cellular, molecular, or developmental
biology using in vitro grown or maintained organs, tissues, or
cells derived from both animals and plants.
In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology ranks in the top
30% of cell biology journals, and many of the journal's readers consider
it "critical" or "important" to their work. The journals
are abstracted in Current Contents, Index Medicus, Medline, Cancerlit,
Chemical Abstracts, BIOSIS, and others.
Members of the Society receive the journal of their choice, either Animal
or Plant, as part of their dues, and subscriptions are available to nonmember
individuals and institutions at a low rate.
ANNUAL ABSTRACT ISSUE
This issue, containing the final program and abstracts for the upcoming
Annual Meeting, mails in the spring to all subscribers and members of
the Society. The issue contains the schedule of functions, meeting summary,
and list of exhibitors.
IN VITRO REPORT
Formerly TCA Report, this quarterly newsletter contains news from
Sections, Branches, and Committees; news of members, details of
forthcoming meetings, courses, classified advertisements; listings
of new publications; and, occasionally, reviews. It is provided
to SIVB members as part of their dues and to Branch members.
OTHER PUBLICATIONS
The SIVB has occasionally published books and proceedings. We
have also arranged with several prominent book publishers to offer
their cell and in vitro related titles at a discount to SIVB members.
Check the bookstore for a complete
list of titles available.
The SIVB has also made arrangements to offer significant discounts
on the following titles from Springer: Cytotechnology - Incorporating
Methods in Cell Science and Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture.
Please see our membership application for this year's current
pricing.

CYTOTECHNOLOGY
The exploitation of cell cultures in a biotechnological context
is based upon research at all levels of academic and industrial
input. Cytotechnology
represents a central repository for information on both the infrastructure
of cell technology and the applied use of cell cultures, thus
providing a panoramic perspective of the many facets and disciplines
needed to develop successful cell cultures. Now incorporating
the former title Methods in Cell Science, the journal will also
provide the forum for publishing the most up-to-date methods developed
during the course of cell science research involving vertebrates,
invertebrates, plants or single celled prokaryotic or eukaryotic
organisms. This journal is being offered to SIVB members in print
format at less than 30% off the regular subscription price.
PLANT CELL, TISSUE
AND ORGAN CULTURE
Plant Cell, Tissue and
Organ Culture is an international journal publishing original
results of fundamental studies on plant cells, tissues and organs
in vitro. Some topics covered include: growth, development, and
differentiation; anatomical, histological, and ultrastructural
aspects; genetics and breeding; physiology and biochemistry; protoplast,
cell, and tissue culture; micropropagation; secondary metabolism;
and biotechnology. This journal is offered to SIVB members in
print format at less than 25% of the regular subscription price.
